I've been on sort of a roll with the big features, lately. This latest one is something I've been promising and dreading for the last two years. Well, I'm a nerd of my word and I'm proud to announce that the user modification system is complete! No, I don't mean I'm going to modify you, tempting as that may be, it means that any one of you are now eligible to dive into the database and modify it willy-nilly. See a typo in a name? You can correct it. See a missing UPC? You can supply it. See a photo that you can improve upon? You can replace it. Everything is up for grabs. Well, limited grabs, anyway--all changes get placed in a queue for review, ah, just for you. Then at midnight the magical know-it-all fairies creep out of the woodwork, have a look at your changes, and either bless them into permanence or cast them on the rocks of rejection.

I won't bore you further with all the details, but I also want to mention that I've added a "How you can help" link to the membership box. See, I'm expanding my photo-mooching campaign into general info-mooching. Click on the link and you'll see a lovely list showing only items in your collection, each of which are shamefully missing a photo or some other vital piece of information. The "How you can help" page is smart enough to only beg for information you can conceivably supply--for example, it won't bug you for UPCs for toys that you opened long ago. You can sort the columns to group all the empty fields together, and then--aah, it's too hard to explain, but I think you'll get the idea once you experiment with it a bit.

So there ya go. I don't know if this is exciting or interesting to you guys, but if you have even an ounce of pity for my pasty butt and all the miserable months it took to prepare this you'll each take the time to provide at least one measly piece of information to the database, hopefully accurate.

Actually, Mr. Fuzz, there are some pieces of info you can provide without even touching Photoshop.

I see that you could possibly help us out with a few retail prices, UPCs, and assortment numbers. As for Photoshop, well, ideally you wouldn't need it for much more than adjusting the white balance on any photos you take. The real question is do you have a decent camera and some bright lights?

My wife has a very nice camera, lights not so much.  Unfortunately most of my collection is put away in boxes because I'm having an addition put on the back of my house.  Good for space, very bad for dust on figures; especially when they have to knock a big hole in the wall of the room housing my collection and the new room.  When I unbox things in a few more weeks, I'll try to contribute where I can.
