Newbie here. I was wondering what the minimum quality people expect is for submissions. I'm trying to document my own collection, and I could clean those up and submit, but from what I've read so far, it seems like there's very strict standards for what should be submitted. There's just so many items without pictures, and isn't a good picture better than no picture at all? It's not like we can't update the picture later.

I'm still learning my camera and slowly getting equipment. Here's what I've been able to do so far (attached) for http://www.shmax.com/product_details/11906/jazz

Looks good to me!  The only problem I can see is that you submitted the photo to a product record instead of Jazz's part record:

Don't worry, a lot of people do it.  But for reference, product records are for the toys in their packaging, part records are for the figures/accessories themselves.

The only other nitpick might be the use of the fabric "floor", which sort of creates a ridged shadow.

Dumba$$ that used to buy everything...not so much anymore.

Oh, don't worry about resubmitting...I just moved the photo to Jazz's record:

Thanks, I'll pay closer attention when I get a non-blurry shot of Jazz's gun and his spec card.

I used an old shower curtain, which I'm liking over posterboard so far because I can shoot my bigger toys without seeing seams and it's so easy to setup and tear down. I wasn't sure how annoying that texture would be, but hopefully, better lights will make it easier to erase in the future.

When you find yourself doing a lot of erasing or other fussy Photshop work it's generally a sign that you need to reconsider your approach. Do yourself a favor and pick up a large sheet of thick, white paper from an art supply store. See our photo guidelines page for tips on how to integrate it into a lightbox or photo tent. We're looking forward to your next submission!
