not at 5AM... but if I think of anything, I'll let you know.

I think that is just the nature of most BINs on eBay, since they are typically much more than you would be able to buy if it was an auction style listing.

Ever since the website got upgraded, I haven't gotten my SHMAX eBay emails.

Trading Post / Wajo's Sale Thread
January 04, 2011, 06:53:08 AM
Hey all,
This is the first time I am doing a sale to this extent, so please be patient with me, I'm still learning the ropes.

In the below link I have a lot of great items including rare Japanese figures including the new Family Mart Exclusives!

Before you click on the link, here are a few things to know:

1) There are TWO tabs in the link below, one for figures and one for accessories
2) I am open for negotiation, BUT I am more flexible with the more you buy.
3) In general, I will automatically give a 5% discount for orders over $100, 7% discount for orders above $150 and 10% discount for orders above $200.
4) The prices are for the figures ONLY. priority shipping, insurance and paypal fees are extra - HOWEVER I charge the EXACT amount, without adding any fluff for packaging and handling.
5) I am at work during the day, so although I can respond, I can't do many things like take pictures for you, weight items, pack items or print labels until approximately 9PM EST.
6) If you want something, PM me. Don't try to order or reserve something within this thread.
7) I like to work in docs.google.com files, so you'll see the list as well as your invoice from there. You can see how I invoice everybody in my default invoice sheet here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key ... y=CJDh5sYC
8) If you PM me or email me and you don't respond during the transaction for more than 48 hours and you haven't paid; you will loose your reserved items and they will go to the next person (if there is one).
9) My feedback links are http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... id=wajo357 and http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/junkion-e ... jo357.html

Now for what you've been looking for - the sale list is here:

Also, the 'missing accessories' just append them without any spaces or commas between each missing accessory. (If you have more than one missing per item).

great! Thanks! I don't know if I was the only one who asked this, but I definitely have been looking forward to this. However, there is a bug: all of my purchase amounts are "0".

Great Job!

Thanks for putting in some of my requests :)

Question: The last two days, the website kept on getting 'overloaded' and today it is very slow to load. Is this a response to the new website and be fixed or is it a separate issue?

In general, you did a great job. There are three things that I would like to give feedback on, that I PERSONALLY don't like so much (I could be completely alone with this):
1) The GREEN links and the PURPLE for the items we have. It looks bad and it doesn't seem to go visually with the rest of the website. Also, when I add an item within a list of category and the purple bar shows, it is hard to visually distinguish the separation between the item I have and the below item.

2) Home Page: I think the concept it great, however, the front page looks like an incoherent puzzle. Elements start and begin in haphazard areas of the page. I would somehow make the 'newly added', 'newly released', 'new pictures', etc start and end on the same part of the page vertically. Maybe have them as a drop down or something. I'm sure we can figure it out.

3) Every search, category, page: I find that with the 'browse' menu to the left, the latest submissions to the right and the top collectors to the right as well, that when I scroll down; most of the page is actually empty space with just a sliver in the middle where the item is. Again, this is just a small 'visual' nitpic - nothing substantial. I just think if we moved some of the items around and came up with different ways of showing the same information; we can have a site that is visually more pleasing to the retinas (at least mine).

EDIT: I think I just found a bug: The ? icons don't seem to show me the information; at least not on Opera v11. It might also be a response to the slow connection.

Again; great job! Keep up the good work.

Happy Holidays!

Wajo

Where has this thread been all my life? I can't believe I missed it.

Ok... my thoughts :)

1. Make sure you preview this stuff in Opera (which I use as well). Some of the rendering is a bit off:
1.a In http://www.shmax.com/test.html the title is broken up with two arrows and a big blotch of white space
1.b In http://www.shmax.com/test2.html there is the same as 1.b, but the date preview, today and next are not neatly aligned with the calendar.

2. GUI: I'm liking what I see so far. Some comments:
2.1 I'm sure this is still the 'advanced' view and people can simply add items to their collection without spending a few minutes to enter all of the information
2.2 I don't 'need' shipping information, but I respect the people who do. Maybe you can have a preference whether to use it or not? I can just avoid it if you do nothing.
2.3 Have a 'Total Paid' box that is greyed out that tallies up the paid and shipping costs. (Or if you want to get fancy, if a person clicks on the 'total paid' it will grey out the other two and allow for the total to be entered.)
2.4 Make sure these fields can be exported when we download collections. Ensure the 'total' is shown on the export as well (so people can easily to a =sum command in excel).
2.5 Do we know what insurance companies look for in our financial reports to insure a collection like this? I have to do the research, I am really behind on getting my collection insured. I am hoping SHMAX can help me get the financial information the insurance companies need. It would be great to tailer the fields and information to help people insure their collections. (This would also be a great 'niche' for the website).
2.6 My vote is for the 'test2' layout.
2.7 It would be great if pictures of the parts would popup when the mouse hovers over the name so people can easily 'see' and compare what they have with the checklist.
2.8 I'm assuming you have 'figures' in the checklist as well as the parts? Because it says 'Parts Checklist'.
2.9 'Customized' - I'm not sure how to take this. Obviously I don't know your full intentions but here are my thoughts.
2.9 A Unless the 'custom' job is a straight up repaint, it isn't going to be an easy task to just pick one figure and say this is a custom of that one figure.
2.9 B Are you going to say he now has this figure because he has a painted, modified and probably crucified version of the one listed?
2.9 C I think if you REALLY want to implement 'custom' figures you need a new category called 'personal' (or whatever) where people can add figures to their collection that are unique and can not be seen in the browse category (but can be seen if you view their collection). If you DO want to connect a custom figure to a figure in the main library, I would suggest implementing a feature where you LINK as many library figures to a single custom figure. For istance, I created a custom called "WAJO". So I add a custom figure to my collection and fill out all of the info and maybe upload some picture. Now if I want to link him to a library item I can add "G1 Optimus" and "Animated Grimlock" and "Masterpiece Starscream" to the list of figures I used to create this monstrocity. In short, I think your directional flow of customs are backwards. Customs are made from 1 or more official products, not that official products contain a custom.

3. Any chance to implement my buy/sell feature with this new roll-out? I have a lot of figures I want to sell and I think it can easily be worked into shmax and be great. I can help you generate the architecture, layout and functionality of it if you wish.

4. A bit off topic, but related to the revisions - I've been thinking about our conversation the other day and I think it boils down to the famous conversation everyone with a decent collection quite often has - "How many figures do you have in your collection". I think the responsibility of this website is to define a structured method of saying what a figure is and what a figure isn't. If you wish to add a point system on top of that, I'm not going to object; but I think a figure count is still vital. Now for 'memorabilia' items, like statues, bobble head dolls, etc I think you should create a third category in addition to 'figure' and 'accessory', which is 'memorabilia'. One SKU can have more than one 'memorabilia' pieces. This way, you have a clear distinction between figures and these other items.

Ok... maybe some of my other thoughts should go in another forum thread :)

I would consider the red tab similar to those plastic tabs that prevent battery contact to avoid battery decay - just a packing accessory to help the toy within the package.

Anyway, where have you guys found inferno? I didn't even know he was released yet?
