The symbols seem to be sorted by date. So the ones with 1969 show up first instead of 1984:
http://shmax.com/faction_guide

Didn't notice this until I posted that link on tfw.

Seems to only show in search results, also only seen on this one so far:
http://shmax.com/database/1867?r=0&submit=search

The actual item seems fine. The code is:

Code Select

And is the Euro symbol.
http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/html/euro.html

It displays properly on other websites for me.

The site has been a little slow in the past 10 minutes or so, might have something to do with it...

Anyways, this section for RPMs says there is 1 item, but it doesn't appear:
http://shmax.com/search/1515?sku_toylin ... mit=search

You know you love it...

Now that I can use the advanced search, I run into another problem. Take these results:
http://shmax.com/search/?sku_toyline=20 ... mit=search

(which btw, there isn't an easy way to view things by year... which maybe a feature request in disguise)

On the treeview on the left, if I click + Canada, + Animated, then click on say Activators, the page sits around for a little bit but comes back with the full search results instead of showing me just the Activators listings within my search results.

I have found a problem with the Advanced Search. It involves both the client and the server. If I use Advanced Search and only select the following:

Toyline: Canada
Released After: 12/31/2007

Then click Search, the following three things happen:

1. If done in Firefox 4, Firefox hits max CPU and hits max system memory. At the time of the crash, Firefox reported it used 89% of available CPU and over 2GB of memory.
2. If done in IE9, IE stops responding but does not crash. Eventually it does return results BUT my PC froze until it did.
3. Shmax gets very slow once returning to the site. For example:
3.a. After the Firefox crash, it took longer than usual to return to the site.
3.b. During the IE search test, Firefox timed out getting into this forum section.

I'm not certain how this can cause a system crash like this, but some input validation should be added to the search for now to set a minimum number of things you need to search with? Not sure, you'll have to check it out.

While replying to a topic, I received this full error (meaning no page parts visible)

Quote
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 1048576) (tried to allocate 1245184 bytes) in //snip//
I was able to (obviously) post this thread, and also click the back button from that error screen and click the reply button to post.

IM me to get full path and line number reported.

Also, when trying to post THIS thread got an Error 500.

While adding items seems to be fine, if I make any changes (mostly with checkboxes) I keep getting an "error" when the item starts up the auto-save. However, the auto-save works but I still get the error.

The only difference I can see is that it always just says auto-saving and does not go back to the figure type, such as loose, sealed, opened, etc.

It does not do it for all records. Seems to only happen on records that are already marked as being in my collection. Items I add and change before the first save do not give this error.

Code Select
Fatal error!!
Please post the URL you were trying to view along with a short description of how to reproduce the problem in the forums

I got my signature removed on me at TFW because it was over 40KB in size:

It does indeed clock in above that (barely) but I notice other users there have their Shmax signatures that are less than 40KB. it this caused by the amount of different items I have? Is there a way to make it smaller at all?

This will be my topic of random questions regarding the use of the site, and how things should be properly classified. Move this topic as needed, as this "help us" section seems similar to the one that preceeds it.

1. I have "partial" toys for items that I can't properly select in the database. Example, I have Brainstorm's box, instructions and guns but no other items. It is impossible to add an item into your collection (or at least a box) if you do not own the figure. I have approximately 5 boxes without toys.

2. Will there be a time where pre-TFs are included into the database? I have a couple Diaclone and a Beetras toy obviously I can't add because those options do not exist. They do, however, use the same mold as other toys that are already existing in the database.

3. I saw another topic concerning bootlegs before and it didn't end up well. Personally, I consider bootlegs and "third part" toys to be in the same bunch. I do have some bootleg items that are noteworthy, but there is no option to add them into the database. Example here is MIB Kingdam Starscream, which is a Pre-TF (Diaclone) bootleg.

4. G1 package variations concerning Decoys. This is a tough subject concerning a database, with exception to the ones in the yellow cover. Sealed toys can have multiple different decoys with them. Even so, if a decoy is added separately, can they be associated with a specific toy? I haven't tried to add any decoys yet, since I haven't found them yet.

Oh and do not worry about the great reduction in my collection number. That was done by me as I re-inventory everything. So anything in my collection atm are confirmed to be owned by me.

I added two items that were not in the database today. Both of them are "box style", however after submission where you can add it to your collection (I presume retroactively once approved), the drop downs for condition only display the "Carded" options. So while the two G1 Canada TFs I added today say "sealed" for the condition, they are not.  :D

I will admit that I am a bit behind on TFs and if you can't tell by my website upkeep, the motivation isn't there as much as it used to be. I see a lot of users have the shmax generated sig so I decided to check things out again. I remember being here when this was new, but that was during my phase-out period. Hopefully I can get back into things, that would be great. I've recently thought of uploading my old site (which actually had content) but don't want to waste all the work I put into it. I think I am more interesting in development than upkeep nowadays.

Anyways, onto my rants, which are to be viewed as my opinions.

Also, beware, I bring much pain to admins :

1. Image upload restrictions... I've got pictures that you need but your website won't allow me to upload them. My suggestion, make it so you can't upload a picture that is smaller than one that is already present. If no picture is present, then accept anything. Specifically, the Argentina and Brazil TFs I have pics of MOC/MIB but they aren't large enough to get past the filter. They are x550 max for Argentina at least.

2. It seems like all the European Beast Wars toys say United Kingdom release, where this is false. Ani-Mutants and Bio-Combat were released in different regions. Italy is one, I forget the other, but I also forget which is which. This was discovered at one point on either Tformers forum or on Allspark, but I can't find them exactly. I also do not have access to Allspark.

3. Regarding G1 products, you should add additional parts, such as cardboard insert, bubble insert or foam insert where applicable. Some of these can be purchased on the secondary market in order to build a MIB toy. I won't even get into the possibility of having a mint toy in a box without any accessories. Perhaps you should add the box into the list as well? Or the fact that I have boxes for toys that I don't even own, like Collection Stepper, or G1 Brainstorm.

4. Speaking of which, I selected a toy that I purchased looses but the current condition is MIB. This is because I bought the box for it later. Anyways, when you click to "View Collection" this particular toy (in my case Bombshell) shows up as MIB with the loose image, but if I click "Edit Collection" this same entry appears as MIB with the boxed image. However, also under Edit, it shows the box but says Loose in the description line. In addition, if I have a toy that is purchase loosed, but is currently MIB, the "add to collection" screen does not let me select different options. This is true of my MIB Jetfire, which was originally loose but I got the box and foam for it later.

5. Canada is not an option when adding a toy. I have at least 3 MIB Canadian G1 TFs and I can't add them.

6. A lot of toys have things in ( ) but no photographic or textual evidence to explain what they mean. For example, I search for Inferno and I find (version 2) but there is no explanation of what that means. I would presume your users don't want (or know how) to dig around the internets for hours to figure out what that means. Also searching for Insecticons comes up with different rubsign indents but there is not info or picture examples of these things. This is important for me since I have at least 10 of each of the basic ones.

7. Will we have the ability to add pre-TF toys to the collection? Such as Diaclone and Beetras, of which I have loose and MIB respectively.

8. Purchase date goes back way too many years, when adding to collection, than TFs or even Pre-TFs were available. The default purchase date at times is 1940!

9. Search results error. Searching for MM-13 brings no results:
http://shmax.com/results/1?sort=rel&bro ... Term=mm-13
However, should at least show this:
http://shmax.com/package_details/2035/M ... ce_Microns

10. Magazine is not an option for parts for Jetfire, LMK if this is something that is there and I am just missing it.

11. Look into upgrading your hosting. Too many timeouts...

Thats it for me today. I'm getting tired :

EDIT: I wanted to add a note about the pictures. I don't care about the contest as much as having a site with pictures on it. I don't even think I'd add that many anyways.

EDIT 2: added #11.

1. If you search for something, then click on the nav menu on the left, it only allows you to see search results within that section, instead of bringing you to the section index.

2. When you click the Next button, it goes to the last page. This happens here:
<!-- m -->http://www.shmax.com/Database/232?page=1<!-- m -->

3. Energon gestalt limbs are sometimes described with the designation number and sometimes not.

4. This guy here: <!-- m -->http://www.shmax.com/Package_Details/17 ... Packaging_<!-- m -->
Never had a regular packaging. All releases are Powerlinx Battles.

5. There are numerous Energon toys that have Powerlinx Battles pictures but no listing. Also note that not all Powerlinx Battles toys had regular Energon releases.

That's it for now. I'll look at it more after dinner.

How are you gentlemen.

I am willing to give this site a try. I attempted this type of website when I recreated my site as it looks now. I didn't have the time to do it, but as a result I still have beta tables sitting in MySQL.   Of course this site looks to be much simpler than what I had attempted... I had planned out stuff like mold and color searches, a marketplace and a billion other things. Perhaps I can lend these design ideas to this site.

And SHMAX, if you need info or pics, let me know. I don't know if you know who I am or anything but... I've got a list... A BIG LIST. I've got a lot of pics too. Feel free to IM me.
