Just wanted to do a quick confirm on this topic regarding FJ Optimus Prime - I presume the parts just need to be added like the Trans-scanning series. FJ Op is a snapfit model with a core figure. The parts are removable so pics should be easy (not that I have time for that atm)... my other question was regarding this entry in the toyline tree - there really isn't one. How should I resolve this?

When I mentioned the toyline in my previous post I am also referring to the mold selection. I can edit the tree I'm just not sure where to put the new entry.

Regarding FJ Optimus Prime, the core body should just be listed as a robot as it doesn't really turn into anything, right?  I created the mold and assigned it to the part you created.

I would then create two "gestalt-figure" entries - Optimus Prime (FJ Mode 1) and Optimus Prime (FJ Mode 2), giving each a robot and FJ Cruiser mode as those are the ones with a true alt-mode.  However, do not assign any molds to these figures as they're gestalt-figures.  Put each in their own group, then place the different-colored parts in the appropriate group.

I already assigned that tire/axe to that mold so that should be a decent start for you.

No, the core figure is a tried and true Transformer. There's no parts forming here like with the Trans-scanning stuff. I simply likened this to that because of the nature of the parts. FJ Op has a robot mode and alt mode and the sprued parts are nothing more than the alt modes body panels.

Yeah, but the core figure's alt mode isn't really an FJ Cruiser until those panels/parts are added, right?  What does it turn into with nothing attached?

Cool...I watched a YouTube review of it and the guy didn't really do a good job of showing off what was actually there with the core figure.  The lighting made it look like a stick figure.

Since it actually has an alt mode, I guess we don't need to bother with the mode 1/2 groups...that's good, because that would have been all sorts of clunky.

We can still show off the "paneled-up" robot modes - just as gallery pics, I suppose.

Yeah, I watched the review and was a bit miffed that detail was overlooked but I decided to pull the trigger and purchase it anyway. Glad I did because it's a fantastic toy!

Agreed.

As far as the gallery, I'm at odds with how it should be shown. It's up to you really. Do we consider the complete toy with colored body panels the end product and thus the one that should be presented upfront? And If so, which color? lol

THANKS A LOT TAKARA!

Overall, for the main figure, I would still go with the "panel-free" Optimus Prime, showing the panel-free robot mode and panel-free FJ cruiser mode as the form photos.

As far as the "with-panels" modes...we really have two options.

Like I mentioned in my first post, create two gestalt-figures (with no molds assigned), each with two forms - robot and FJ Cruiser.  Give each a different name, put each one in their own group, making sure to put color-specific parts into the appropriate groups.  Parts that are shared with both conformations should be grouped with the core robot.

That's pretty much the first option.

Or, we could go with the second...where we just have the "with-panels" modes shown off through gallery photos.  We could use one as the primary photo as well.

I think option two is the way to go here but ultimately it's up to you. IF Takara decides to release the body shell in alternate colors in the future we may very end up going with option one anyway...

Option two it is....just add all parts to one group with photos taking care of the different configurations.  Sounds good to me.
