Help Us Build the Database / Dungeons & Dragons?
March 31, 2023, 07:09:59 PM
I recently became aware of a request to add the Dungeons & Dragons toyline(s) to the site.

So, to proceed, I need to know how it should be broken down.

To start. for the toylines/products, we'd have a "Dungeons & Dragons" umbrella category.

From the research I've done, I've found the following, which would appear below the "Dungeons & Dragons" umbrella category:

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (LJN 1983-84)
   Basic Series Action Figures
   Battle-Matic Series Action Figures
   Bendable Monster Action Figures
   Collectibles (single packs and giftset)
   Monsters
   Mounts
   Mounts with Rider
   Playset
   Human/Monster Adventure Figures
   Wind-Ups

Dungeons & Dragons Cartoon Classics

Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves
   Dicelings
   Forgotten Realms
   Golden Archive

Dungeons & Dragons (sort of a generic catch-all subcategory)
  Jada Toys
  Kidrobot
  NECA (Basic and Ultimate Series)
Funko (create subcategory under D&D and cross-list with existing Funko records)
Kre-O (create subcategory under D&D and cross-list with existing Kre-O records)
Super7 (create subcategory under D&D and cross-list with existing ReAction records)
  My Little Pony Crossover

This is all I have been able to find so far, so if I missed anything, you'll have to forgive me as I know nothing about this property.  There's likely some Merchandise that's associated with the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons line as practically 80s property had a bunch of side stuff associated with it (role-play items, flashlights, etc.).

I would also hope that those that are more knowledgeable than I would make sure that once we create these product records, that we're eventually able to fill in the contents of these records so that we're not sitting on a bunch of empties.

The mold categories that would need to be created would be:

Dungeons & Dragons
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (LJN 1983-84)
        Basic Series Action Figures
        Battle-Matic Series Action Figures
        Bendable Monster Action Figures
        Collectibles (single packs and giftset)
        Monsters
        Mounts
        Mounts with Rider
        Playset
        Human/Monster Adventure Figures
        Wind-Ups

   Dungeons & Dragons Cartoon Classics

Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves

      Dicelings
      Forgotten Realms
      Golden Archive

   Jada Toys

   Kidrobot

   Neca

   MLP Crossover?

Super7 and Funko molds are already covered.

So, what do you guys think?  Is Dungeons & Dragons a good fit for us to track in the database?

Voice your opinions here.

Can anyone provide a concrete (confirmed) release date for the U.S. release of the G.I. Joe 30 Snake Eyes & Timber: Alpha Commandos set?

https://www.shmax.com/product_details/47964/snake_eyes_timber_alpha_commandos

I've got three different release dates submitted by users in the queue:
Aug 27, 2021
Sep 6, 2021
Nov 29, 2021

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
MIKE

I just wanted to let everyone know that the update to the site is now complete and user edits to the site have been been restored.

This means that users will now be able to submit changes to existing product/part records, create new ones, add items to their collections, etc..

If you see anything out of the ordinary or something that doesn't work quite right, please let us know in the bug forum.

Again, thank you for your patience!

I just wanted to let everyone know that an update to the site was recently checked in, and in case you haven't noticed already, user edits to the site have been temporarily turned off.

This means that users won't be able to submit changes to existing product/part records, create new ones, add items to their collections, etc..

Again, this is only temporary and will be restored as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience!

We have some folks here on the site that are very knowledgeable about the Skylanders toys; unfortunately for me, I am not one of them. :)

I recently acquired a number of Skylanders because they looked cool  (and were cheap).

If I were to put up some quickie photos (group shots), I wouldn't mind knowing which ones I have, lol.

So, if anyone thinks they might be able to help me out, let me know and I'll toss up a few photos when I can.

Thanks!

Users,

A lot of the errors/bugs you have been seeing should now be fixed.

If you find anything else that doesn't seem to be working quite right, please let us know.

As I'm typing this, the following aren't working:

Dynamic Signatures
Profile - Statistics Tab
Profile - Infinite loading not working

Once they are up and running, I'll post a reply here.

Thanks for being patient.  :)

Hey everyone,

Edits to the site have been disabled while we work to fix a bug.  Rest assured that the collection data is safe and sound and we'll be back up to speed as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Courtesy of spliffdizzle, here's Swoo-...I mean Strafe

As part of the rather-awesome SDCC exclusive Dinobots box set, Strafe is actually meant to be the G1 Dinobot character, Swoop.  Don't worry, the rest of your walnut-sized-brain havin' Dinobot buddies are here, as well - Grimlock, Snarl, and Slag (Dinobot Slug) are also included in the set.  But, where is everyone's favorite Apatosaurus, Sludge

Here he is and he's taken the name of Slog.  Only available at Amazon.com, this guy is scheduled to be released on December 15th...what better way to celebrate the holidays than finally completing your neo-G1 Dinobot set, right?

Courtesy of spliffdizzle, here's yet another awesome but typically-named third party figure, Heavy Noisy.  I have to ask...I mean, I know why it's done, but what's the logic used when naming these things?

"Death Tread"?
Nah.
"Skirmish?"
Lame.
Ooh, I know.  How about "Fist-i-cuffs"?
Don't think so.
Well, I'm out of ideas...how about..."Heavy Noisy?"
Bingo.

I guess it does make some sense, though, as I would imagine tanks to be both rather heavy and noisy.

For anyone that had a momentary lapse in judgment and ordered the AOE First Edition Optimus Prime from Amazon...could you please check your and post whether or not the shield and sword had any silver paint apps.

Apparently, some are arriving painted and others unpainted.

Over on the Allspark, a user observed that:

Quote
I notice the standard-packaging version (as opposed to "frustration-free") is now listed as Under Review at Amazon, saying "customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here".

I wonder if that's related to the complaints about unpainted weapons or something else?

I ordered the "Standard Packaging" version (since, at the time, I wasn't quite sure what the heck "Frustration-Free" meant) and, yep, my weapons are unpainted. :(

Did anyone that ordered the "Standard Packaging" version end up with painted weapons?

If not, it would seem that the unpainted weapons only showed up with the Standard Packaging and the painted weapons were found only in the "Frustration-Free Packaging".  If this distribution holds true, and is not a random event, I would think this might warrant a variant (as pathetic as that is) in the database.

Courtesy of Spliffdizzle, take a peek at Prime Dark Energon Optimus Prime.  In addition to being all decked out in translucent red and orange, we get to see Prime without his ever-present mouthplate - just look at that handsome face.

A BBTS exclusive in the U.S.,  the Dark Energon line provided us with some rather unique recolors - check out Wheeljack and Bumblebee.  If you're on the fence about these guys, BBTS currently has all six on clearance right now.

I haven't seen this mentioned before (if it has been, I apologize), but today at Walmart I found something new (or at least I think it is).

A Rescue Bots Optimus Prime Rescue Trailer Bonus Pack for $25.

I've attached some photos, so if you've got a little one that's into the Rescue Bots, this is a pretty good deal.

Also available on-line here.

Courtesy of Spliffdizzle, we've got Masterpiece Streak, a wonderful interpretation of the Generation 1 character, and the next in the line of the smaller Masterpiece figures.

Knowing how TakaraTomy loves their recolors, can a Diaclone-inspired "Blue" Streak be in our future?  Only time will tell...

Trading Post / Predacons Rising Bumblebee Blight 2-Pack
November 08, 2013, 06:32:25 PM
Hey,

If anyone's got an extra Predacons Rising Bumblebee Blight 2-Pack, or has access to one, please let me know.

This is the last Predacons Rising item I need and I've come up with nothing locally.

So, if you've got one, shoot me a PM.

Thanks for reading,

Courtesy of Spliffdizzle, have a look at Kre-O Sharkticon - based on the G1 figure Gnaw, who, as a Sharkticon, was one of the Quintesson's pets/soldiers.

So, if this guy knocks on your door, no matter what he says, he's not a plumber, there is no telegram, and he is most certainly not "only a dolphin".

Once again, courtesy of Spliffdizzle, here we have everyone's favorite radioactive Creamsicle, Sunstorm.  Only avalable at BotCon 2013, Sunstorm was part of the Rainmakers Souvenir set and sold out very quickly.  If you were lucky enough to get one, be warned...this guy is not, I repeat, NOT filled with ice cream.  That was a costly little experiment - anyone happen to have an extra? ;)

Courtesy of Spliffdizzle, check out Soundwave spending a little quality time with his fine feathered friend, Laserbeak.

Here we have Smokescreen from the Beast Hunters subline, courtesy of spliffdizzle.

Looking sufficiently "Mad Maxian", Smokescreen is decked out in his Shadow Quill Armor (which is thankfully removable) and is ready to go dragon hunting with his Autobot buddies.

The times, they are a-changin'...back in the day, Generation 1 Mirage preferred to kick back and hunt turbofoxes for sport, but now, for the Prime Autobot cast, it's dragons and the Autobots are the hunted.

I noticed that they feature triingual packaging...so, I'm assuming Canada. The YouTube reviewer mentions in the comments that he found them at TRU ($29.99).

I wish he would have shown off the packaging a bit more in the review as I've never heard of these. They seem to be very basic, limited-articulation action figures. Almost as if something smaller were scaled up to the somewhat massive height.

Does anyone have any more information on these two?
